Bureau/Putnam Counties

“Break the Habit” is a smoking cessation program that is a joint effort by the Bureau/Putnam County Health Department and the Illinois Tobacco Quitline/American Lung Association Help line. This program is available to residents in Bureau and Putnam county residents that desire assistance with smoking cessation efforts. The program provides nicotine replacement patches from the health department, free of charge. Call the Bureau County Health Department for more information.

 

“Freedom from Smoking” is a seven-session American Lung Association stop-smoking program. With the supportive environment, many smokers are finally able to break their smoking addictions. Each smoker who joins the clinic will develop an individual plan for quitting. The clinic includes the latest improved skills for good stress management, weight control, assertive communication and exercise, as well as information on nicotine replacement therapy. LaSalle County

Illinois Valley Community Hospital

“Freedom from Smoking,” sponsored by the American Lung Association is sponsored by the Illinois Valley Community Hospital. A registered nurse will discuss strategies to quit smoking and remain nicotine free. This is a eight-session-seven-week course held at the IVCH CPRA (near the YMCA). Registration and payment for required course material is due before starting class (fee is $30.00).   You can find upcoming times at www.ivch.org

American Cancer Society’s “Fresh Start Program” is offered as 4 weeks of individual sessions. Also encouraged to utilize Illinois Tobacco Quitline in addition to this program.  Contact Tammi Coons to set up a schedule for this program.

 

McDonough County

McDonough County Health Department

“Break the Habit” is a program offered to residents of McDonough County to aid individuals while they quite smoking through the help of counselors and tobacco patches (while supplies last). This program is done in conjunction with the American Lung Association’s Illinois Tobacco Quitline and the Illinois Department of Public Health. Fulton County

Graham Hospital—Graham Wellness Center

“Freedom from Smoking” which is an American Lung Association program that helps clients identify smoking patterns and motivations. Concrete tools for quitting are incorporated into the participant’s plan for stopping. Techniques for staying smoke free and better managing stress are taught in this class which meets for 6 weeks. Stark County

Henry & Stark County Health Department

“Freedom from Smoking” which is an American Lung Association program is offered for residents of Henry & Stark Counties. Participants must be over age 18. The program consists of 8 – 1.5 hours sessions over 7 weeks, with a fee of $25 which pays for the education supplies. Complimentary gum, patch, and lozenges for participants are provided. Chantix is also available for $25 per month. Call for information about upcoming classes.
