Bipolar Disorder is a mood disorder, which is associated with mood swings of depression altering with mania, with each phase varying in length, intensity and frequency. This disorder can occur in both adults and children.
Manic Symptoms Include:
- Racing thoughts
- Poor judgment
- Pressured speech
- Agitation
- Easily distracted
- Impulsive
- Increase in physical activity
- Poor follow through with meeting obligations
- Decrease need for sleep
Depressive Symptoms:
- Depressed mood
- Feeling hopeless
- Suicidal ideation
- Sleeping problems
- Lacking motivation/loss of interest
- Irritability
